OSSINING, NY — October 14, 2019 — Leaders in Infrastructure Investment Congratulations to the Ossining Water Department! You are leaders among your peers, and we are so grateful for your outstanding work. Last week’s award from the Westchester Water Works Conference for the dam at the Indian Brook Reservoir was well deserved.
At last week’s work session we discussed two items that will be open for a public hearing next month. The first is related to a proposed honorary street naming—it is the first proposal under our new process. The second is a proposal to establish the position of assistant village manager in the village charter. This legislative action before a person can be hired into this position is a new requirement from Westchester County. Click here to view the full agenda and meeting video.
Community Connections: Open Office Hours with the Mayor will take place tomorrow in the Board of Trustees office on the first floor of Village Hall from 10:00am until 12:00noon. No appointment is necessary, and all are welcome to discuss any topic, concern or idea of interest to you.
Have a burning question or idea, at any hour of the day or night?… Email me (email@example.com), Village Manager Karen D’Attore (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the Board of Trustees (email@example.com).
Looking Ahead: As we prepare for budget season and a busy end of year calendar, there are a few dates to look forward to. November is all about the budget. On November 6 we will hold our legislative session at the Community Center. Karen D’Attore will present her proposed 2020 manager’s budget. The Village Board’s budget meetings will be held at Village Hall on 11/7 from 9am-5pm, 11/12 from 6-9pm, 11/14 from 6-9pm, and (if necessary) on 11/19 from 6-9pm. The public will be invited to publicly comment on the proposed budget at the November 20 work session, which will be held at the courthouse. There will be no village board meeting on Thanksgiving Eve.
In December we wrap up the budget and move on to celebrating some of the people that serve Ossining local government so admirably. On December 6 the Village Board will vote to adopt the final version of the 2020 budget. On December 11 we will be at the library for a special work session honoring the community members who serve on village appointed boards and committees. And then on December 18, our final meeting planned for the year, we will open with a special presentation celebrating the career of MaryAnn Roberts.
Click here to view this week’s agenda. Because this is a legislative session, there are a number of invitations for community members to offer comments. If you would like to spread the word about an upcoming event, please take up to two minutes during Organizational Announcements. Folks who would like to comment on the resolutions included on this week’s agenda may do so for up to four minutes at the start of the Village Board Resolutions portion of the meeting. The meeting closes with an invitation for community members to comment for up to three minutes during Visitor Recognition about any topic of relevance to the common good of the Village. The meeting will be held at the Birdsall-Fagan Police Court Facility on Spring Street.
