GREENBURGH, NY — October 3, 2019 — A follow up to what happened yesterday at the Hartsdale train station. As you know, Universal Content Productions LLC is filming the third season of “The Sinner”. They reached an agreement with the Hartsdale Parking district to use the Hartsdale train station for filming; the Hartsdale Parking District is being paid significant dollars for this. The Hartsdale Parking District is independent of the town government.

Unfortunately, there was a lack of proper coordination. Many commuters were greatly inconvenienced during the filming. Some people waited 30-45 minutes in the parking garage. Residents mentioned that they missed appointments or were late to work in the AM and PM.

I spoke with the location manager for the production company. He indicated that the company does not plan to return to the train station area but will be filming around Greenburgh.  They were receptive to a suggestion to sponsor a “we’re sorry for the inconvenience to commuters” event within the next few weeks –refreshments will be provided to commuters.

I also spoke with our Police Chief, Brian Ryan. We discussed the introduction of a local law that would ban filming in the town if there could  be  disruptions to vehicle or pedestrian traffic. We both agree that no filming around the train station should be allowed during AM or PM rush hour.  And that there should have been better notification to commuters.  Further, that there have to be additional reviews by the police before these kind of permits are issued to film companies.

We all feel bad that so many commuters were inconvenienced. We have learned from this experience. It won’t happen again.  Sorry!
