Congressman Eliot L. Engel (D-NY-District 16)

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY —November 18, 2019 — The Hudson Valley Stonewall Democrats, a grassroots LGBTQ advocacy group based in the Hudson Valley, has endorsed Congressman Eliot Engel for re-election to Congress in New York’s 16th Congressional District, which covers parts of Westchester and Bronx counties. In their endorsement the organization cited Congressman Engel’s long record of pro-LGBTQ+ support in Congress, from his vote against the Defense of Marriage Act in the 1990’s to his co-sponsorship of the Equality Act, which passed the House earlier this year.

“Congressman Engel has been a champion of LGBTQ rights his entire career. Our organization is extremely proud to endorse him in 2020,” said Anthony Nicodemo, President of Hudson Valley Stonewall Democrats. “In a time when our rights seem to be threatened on a daily basis we know that Congressman Engel is on the front-line in Washington fighting for our community.”

“I am thrilled to have the support of the Hudson Valley Stonewall Dems, one of the premiere LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations in my district,” Engel said. “Local, grassroots groups like the Hudson Valley Stonewall Dems are driving change all across our country. Their support speaks to my longtime commitment to fighting for true equality for every American, regardless of their sexual or gender identity. True equality means equal protection under the law and I will continue to work with the Hudson Valley Stonewall Dems to advance critical federal legislation like the Equality Act in Congress.”

BACKGROUND: The Hudson Valley Stonewall Dems are a group of LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) Democrats and allies located in the Hudson Valley in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties in New York State that advocate for legislation that guarantees equality and fairness for the LGBTQ community, and represent the political ideals, concerns, and priorities of the LGBTQ community. They are a group of supporters of qualified Democratic candidates for local, state, and national office that strive to support and lobby for civil rights, social justice, legislative agenda, healthcare, education, and for funding for institutions and organizations that affect communities in the Hudson Valley.

Congressman Engel has a 100% record from the Human Rights Campaign for his voting record, including his support for the Equality Act, his resolution marking GLSEN’s National Day of Silence, his co-sponsorship of the Tyler Clementi Higher Education Anti-Harassment Act, and his co-sponsorship of the Protecting LGBTQ Youth Act.

  1. Speaking of corruption!
Jeff Buss gets a contract for counsel to Mike KHADER and a week later Jeff Buss is headlining a Fundraiser for KHADER… this is the guy who loves to talk about good government haha

  2. Yonkers residents know that sabatino is bought and paid for by the Spano’s
It all started with the no show job for his husband and then when he sold his vote to give the Mayor a 3rd term. He will cash in his vote with the job the Mayor is giving him.

The city council is just as corrupt to allow this to happen.

I will write a letter to the DOJ explaining how he sold his vote !!!

    1. Goniff is not a dirty word.

Hezi’s comment in response: Goniff is a Yiddish word which means “thief”. That word is a term that needs to be explained not simply thrown out there as if it is legitimate. If there is validation to the assertion and can be proven, then it would be an appropriate assertion, otherwise it is an allegation that some will believe is true just by it being said, when that may not be the case. If that was the case, one has to wonder why overso many years, that has not been divulged. — Kindly, Hezi

I believe your father’s spelling is closer to the transliteration fro Yiddish. It is truer to the actual Yiddish pronunciation to the spelling previously which is a newly derived spelling because fewer and fewer people speak the language and those that do do longer pronounce as they would have in Europe. Tie marches on and the lake of me who appreciate the differences are mostly, simply Boomers, and thought of to have gone beyond our relevance. Another generation and Yiddish will likely only be spoken among very orthodox Jewish communities in such places as Monsey, Brooklyn, some communities in New Jersey, and in some cities in Israel. — Kindly,Hezi

      1. When the VA scandal came to light in April 2014 Mr Engel was nowhere to be found-he has voted consistently against VA bills that would help veterans-this from a man who became a NYC school teacher in order to avoid being drafted-the picture of him at the top of the page has got to be at least 30 years old-it is time for him to go the way of Lowey and Serrano-people r tired of old white Jewish males representing them especially when he has nothing in common with them.

      2. Wow, Sabatino is some lucky duck! He got ET’s old job, nice…. NOT! Again, no open competition for position, the favoritism of the favored connected sees no end in Yonkers.

Wonder who is going to be rewarded with Jamal’s position? Let’s face it how can he possibly keep the job if he is convicted!
