WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY —  December 2, 2019 — Welcome to “News & Notes,” where we look at the happenings here in Westchester County…

Just finished the holiday decorating, our Manger scene needed work, lost a few sheep, added some straw, and one of the wise men needed a bit of Elmer’s glue, but otherwise good to go, then poured myself a hot cocoa and wrote this week’s “Ho! Ho! Ho!” edition of “News & Notes.”

Fun times are set for Saturday December 7 at the Bedford Hills Train Station, first up Pictures with Santa from 1-4 p.m. followed by the Antioch Church  and Bedford Hills Elementary School Choirs leading neighbors in song for the Annual Tree Lighting at 6 p.m.  I can’t wait as I have been a good boy this year, just ask my wife…

Speaking of my wonderful wife, here is an event that caught her attention “Sip, Shop and Socialize,” which the Bedford Hills Neighborhood Association is sponsoring on Thursday, December 5, 7-10 p.m. also at the Bedford Hills Train Station, enjoy shopping at great local vendors, meet new people, all while enjoying a glass of wine and light apps, sounds like a plan to me. As far as I can tell, my wife is a professional sipper, shopper and socializer and will see you there!

Celebrate the holiday season at John Jay Homestead with a guided tour of John Jay’s historic Bedford House focused on the holiday traditions and decorations of the 1820s.  The Holiday Tour is offered Thursday through Saturday at 1pm and 3pm throughout the month of December.

We hope you can stop by Grand Prix NY in Mount Kisco for our annual 2-hour “Clubhouse Holiday Special” on Wednesday December 4 from 6-8 p.m. or listen on AM1490 WGCH.  Adult patrons who bring a donation for the Community Center of Northern Westchester’s Food Pantry will receive a chance at a complimentary ticket to race or bowl at GPNY.  In addition, there will be drink specials at Fuel, great local sport guests, trivia contests and fun for all.  This is a fantastic way to kick off the Holiday season, show support for the community, and have an incredible night at Grand Prix NY, I’ll be the guy in the very ugly Christmas sweater…see you Wednesday December 4.

Our good friends at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theatre in Peekskill present the 8th Annual Westchester All-Stars and Friends Christmas For Veterans concert on December 6 at 7:30 p.m.  Make this your family’s kick off to the holiday season while supporting our true American heroes, all the proceeds will go to help veterans organizations such as Disabled American Veterans Chapter 144, Veterans Adaptive Sports, and Friends Of Fallen Heroes.

Get in to the holiday spirit with some entertainment, refreshments, raffles and holiday joy, when you stop by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Katonah for the annual Christmas Tree and Menorah lighting on December 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Please don’t forget those less fortunate this holiday season, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army ringers, give a little, it will mean a lot…

I will leave you with this:  Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; so I wrote this column with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; and I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
