YONKERS, NY — May 25, 2020 – It has been over six months since Nick Spano and the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association (PBA) President Keith Olson finally tallied the lobbying cost burden paid out by the Yonkers PBA and the Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants Association (CLSA) since 2014. We will save the fireside chat with respect to former New York State Senator, now lobbyist, Nick Spano, a Yonkers Deputy Mayor by the name of James Cavanaugh who works for Nick Spano’s lobbying firm, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, the Gigante Saturday Night Fever wrinkled suit, and the illusion that Yonkers is the safest place to live. What is blatantly obvious is that Nick Spano, the former senator and ex-convict who served jail time for tax evasion, is now running Yonkers wearing Republican garb. It simply had to be stated; but we won’t belabor the point. After all, if you want something, need something, perhaps promotions, business contracts, and/or construction bids, you have to sign Nick Spano’s Empire Strategic Planning clause that Nicky Boy can’t do anything for you in Yonkers, even so, keep sending the lobbying cash and steer endorsement payouts from the City of Yonkers’ unions and you may find that wishes do indeed come true.
Now that we know that wishes paid for are found under PBA President Keith Olson’s pillow, especially on behalf of Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller, after all their backstabbing style and demeanor, have permeated the very sinew of the Yonkers Police Department for quite some time now.
Only a few weeks ago, The Journal News / LoHud published another article highlighting Yonkers “top earners” who made more than $225,000 annually. It was an eye-opener for most readers but it didn’t even skim the surface. There is so much more to be gleaned behind the tooth fairy’s “gifts”. It relates to how Yonkers PBA President Keith Olson, among others in the Yonkers Police Department use and manipulate city overtime to maintain control of its membership and CLSA Supervisors, who seek to build up their overtime pay, before they retire.

Mayor Mike Spano’s Communications Director Christina Gilmartin was quoted by LoHud to have asserted what she described as a “problematic” concern and that the conduct is perceived to be “pension padding”. Perception is drawn from knowledge or a lack of same. Even so, there is much more to be said about this never ending practice of the “haves” and “have nots” and how it is implemented. Rotten union leaders, such as PBA President Keith Olson, and his BFF Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller play their game to make sure that P.C. Mueller gets to grant the wish to the “family and friends” insiders by granting a wish and placing it under one’s pillow. If only the tooth fairy could be as magnanimous. You see, grasshopper, John Mueller has learned the art of using taxpayer cash to yield power, harass others, align fealty and loyalty, and force out the ones that are not on their cheerleading squad. Now hold that thought! With those odds on the crap table, can you imagine those “specifically chosen” few have much integrity?
The Yonkers Tribune has learned that certain Police Officers were not afforded the same opportunities as the “family and friends” networkers because the Olsonettes had targeted them for speaking freely. Which brings to mind whether John Mueller and Keith Olson realize we live in America. We do, don’t we?
Yonkers has become a grimy, filthy city, revealing more than ever before that at Yonkers helm are leaders prone to failure or simply too scared to stand up for what they know is happening under their watch. That is why the Fourth Estate, media, is so important. Were it not for media, there would be no venue by which public figures would be caught.
With that backdrop, let’s divulge how “loyalists” get paid off. Reading between the lines, did you happen to read some of the comments that Olson was quoted as saying? If you had been following what has been going on within the Yonkers Police Department you may have chuckled as to Olson’s scripted responses.
According to Nick Spano’s “launderer” and union boss Keith Olson, Yonkers needs 200 more cops. By some unknown capacity, P.C. John Mueller has brought the overtime concern under control. How can that be you ask?
The real story is that no one is presently willing to admit to the realty they have concocted. In order to besst understand what has transpired, let’s take a broader historical perspective. We hearken back to the days Keith Olson, John Mueller, among others, were engaged in every skullduggery connivance to undermine former Police Commissioner Charles Gardner. Casting aspersions about P.C. Gardner’s capacity to guide the Yonkers Police Department by questioning his capacity as a leader. All behind his back. They gained the ear of the gullible Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. Mayor Spano heard the talk from Mueller and Olson. They insinuated that P.C. Gardner was not capable, that he was too slow in formulating appropriate strategies especially with respect to day to day operations or dealing with overtime or staffing levels.
Some of our readers may want to believe that bull, but the truth is that it WAS Olson and Mueller who dispensed overtime or denied overtime discreetly. They gave their “family an friends” lackeys the overtime. They are the same officers who can be found by following the double yellow traffic overtime records. While we choose not to be “investigators”, it is evident that the this flock of sheep were steered right into oncoming “traffic overtime”. Did someone say “Traffic Overtime“?
As the City of Yonkers is engaged in approving a FY2020-2021 Budget, it is a certainty that Yonkers Finance Commissioner John Liszewski can enlighten the Yonkers City Councilmembers, should they have an interest to know, that there are log books and payroll records of all the personnel who were privy to that oath of brotherhood. One can further presume with the allure of constant traffic overtime for the chosen few, a/k/a the filthy few, is how control, intimidation, and yes, targeting fellow police officers is part of the scam.
At first glance at the reading of this ‘telling”, one may infer these cops made out like fat cats. The issue that New York State and the City of Yonkers must contend with is why a large majority of union officials got to pension pad for several years straight and why other police personnel were not afforded comparable yearly averages of $225K or better when they were anticipating retirement.
So many of the men/women in Blue, specifically the “Friends and Family” network do Nick Spano’s laundry. They just pay union dues to their union representatives like Olson who then makes sure the Republican lobbyist gets his sack of membership coin to lobby for what, you guessed it, OVERTIME. That is the name of the game.
Following The Journal News/LoHud’s lead, the Yonkers Tribune decided to glance at some of the union officials and publicly print their name just like they did.
Just a few of the former Yonkers PBA Union Officials that were privy to years of ‘traffic “overtime or should it be called the Olson/ Mueller going away payoff for being obedient, that is subservient, boys and girls.
Joseph Mahoney, among others.
We have to disagree with Olson’s comments about the distribution or the control of overtime. The only thing Mueller did thus far, besides locking out those bosses he does not like or mistrusts, is deny them any extra time, cut time from them, transfer the overtime onto those who do not openly question his demeanor, conduct, and action.
Olson’s vacuous and meaningless words can’t deny pension padding for the Kool-Aiddrinkers who sell Olson’s and Muellers’ pipe dreams. So as this Pandemic hits cities throughout America, Mueller threatens to fine and lock up people who gathered together while criminals were being let out of jail.
Yonkers Police Department has been aware of gun arrests, shootings, robberies, increase in domestic violence, as well as overall crime, yet P.C. Mueller prefers to hand you a slice of pizza just like Mayor Mike Spano. The only good thing about getting a slice of pizza in Yonkers is that Yonkers is renowned for its pizza. Hmm, hmm, so good!
The Yonkers Police Department went back to working 8-hour tours from 12 hours that were placed upon them during the pandemic. During that time some officers were able to get 12 hours of straight overtime to back fill those out sick with COVID-19. So when they worked 24 hours over two days, they got paid the equivalent of 40 hours, and they would also be permitted to work an additional 4 hours overtime each of those two days beyond the 12 hours shift at time-and-a-half. Sp they ended up getting paid a total of 40 hours for work 24 hours, or work 28 hours, getting paid for 46 hours, or worked 32 hours , while getting paid 52 hours yet working 36 hours. They convinced the Police Officers to accept the lure, and all it did was cause overtime to skyrocket even further as it also exacerbated the number of Police Officers to become infected by COVID-19. They call that a “union lure” and that is what the membership gets when the PBA President and the Police Commissioner are in bed together. They are after all BFF.
One thing is certain, that is, that Traffic Overtime is being abused by the people handing it out for the “chosen few”. It could be considered illegal to be biased for favoring some and never others. It seems the Yonkers Police Department treats its Police Officers unfairly; some get overtime, others never get overtime.
It is definitely an abuse of the NYS Pension System because the distribution of overtime is not afforded everyone on an equal basis.
Now that you know how the system is played, the takeaway is simple. If you want to survive on the Yonkers Police Department under Olson and Mueller all you have to do is swear to seeing it their way, swear to what they write, and regurgitate what they say. If you can parrot them, you might get a bite oat the apple. Remember to keep your mouth shut until you do, and if you don’t, perhaps you’ll get nothing. You may however be called upon at times to target others. If you intend to abide by their demand of you, you may very well be setting yourself up for future corruption charges and you will be played for a whore while employed by the YPD
Right now Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, PBA President Keith Olson and Nick Spano’s appointed Police Commissioner John Mueller will no doubt be listed as the worst public officials the City of Yonkers ever had at the helm. They take their place along the New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio side.
