PEEKSKILL, NY – August 15, 2020 — Apropos, a contemporary American restaurant in a renovated convent with spectacular views of the Hudson River, has begun indoor dining.
Having direct access to the Hudson Valley, the menu features a variety of seasonal produce that allows the menu’s options to regularly change. Summer options currently include corn, peaches, multiple varieties of local lettuces and herbs and tomatoes. The menu will always feature appetizers; fresh and dried pastas; locally sourced poultry; dry aged or fresh beef; and northeastern Atlantic seafood. Future menu options will include crudo, hand shaped pasta, suckling pig, and selection of cheese from local creameries.
Sunday brunch at Apropos offers a special consisting of two eggs, orange juice, sliced seasonal fruit, molasses-cured bacon, grilled fennel sausage, sheep’s yogurt with house granola, Nutella pancakes and white or wheat toast.
Apropos’ diners can also enjoy drinks and spectacular views of the Hudson River. By-the-glass wine offerings include an NV Prosecco from Tenuta Sant’Anna, Italy; a 2018 Sancerre from Lauverjat, France; and a 2018 Pinot Grigio from Poggiobello, Italy. Snackers can enjoy their drinks with a side of French fries and old bay aioli.
The indoor dining service began under Phase 4 of the gradual reopening from New York State on Pause. Under the state’s rules, restaurants can offer indoor dining provided that tables are at least six feet apart and that employees wear face masks. Diners must wear masks when they are not seated at a table.
The Abbey Inn & Spa’s signature dining concept, Apropos, combines chef-driven cuisine with breathtaking views of the Hudson River. Helmed by Executive Chef John Paidas, this contemporary American eatery features Mediterranean-influenced and locally sourced ingredients.
Apropos’ hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Apropos is closed Mondays.
Easily accessible to New York City and beyond, the city of Peekskill can be accessed via rail on Metro North, a mere one hour north of the city. Conveniently located between the Westchester County Airport (25-miles by car) and Stewart International Airport (24-miles), the city is also situated amidst a vibrant waterfront, including Riverfront Green Park with sculptures, a playground, and assorted dining options, theatres, and more.
