Anthony Merante, Yonkers City Council, District 6.

YONKERS, NY — August 12, 2020 — Anthony Merante, Yonkers 6th District Councilman  will be joined by residents, members of StopUPS.org and other elected officials to protest the planned expansion of this UPS facility. Organizers fear that UPS’s plans, if approved by the Yonkers Planning Board would produce a safety hazard with its above ground gasoline tanks, excessive traffic and noise generated by its 24/7 operation with trailers and trucks coming and going. It would destroy the quality of life for this neighborhood and the peaceful enjoyment of its residents. An environmental impact study is warranted before the Planning Board considers UPS’s requests.

Anthony Merante will be joined by other elected officials:

Ruth Walter, Westchester County Legislator District 15,

Mike Breen, Yonkers City Council Minority Leader, and

Shanae W. Williams,  Yonkers City Councilmember, 1st District

DATE: Wednesday, August 12, 2020

TIME: 3:30 PM

PLACE: UPS Facility, 555 Tuckahoe Rd, Yonkers, NY 10710

(East Grassy Sprain Road by the construction area for the parking lot)

  1. Poor white trash neighborhood and their poor white trash councilman can pound sand. Merante will have a young primary challenger.

  2. I don’t understand the problem with above ground tanks. They’re safer, easier to maintain and cheaper to repair/replace if something does go wrong. Not to mention the city is currently replacing the underground tanks it owns with above ground ones.

    1. If the property was empty they would complain it’s an eyesore , now UPS comes to the city and they complain.

Let them build and tax them accordingly.

      1. That’s the problem in Yonkers, they don’t tax them. They tax us again and again and again. It will be straight down to the IDA where the teddybears give them a tax picnic.

Actually a good question for Muerente and his merry men to find out is HOW MUCH TAXES ARE PAID ON THAT PROPERTY??????
