COVID-19 Positive Cases Tabulated With Respect to the Yonkers Public School for Tuesday, December 29, 2020

YONKERS, NY — December 29, 2020 — The Yonkers Tribune has learned that for some time now the Yonkers Public School District has tabulated those people who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. 

In an effort to gauge the Yonkers Public School efforts we are beginning to share what should prove to be a daily update of positive cases. Today’s report is an accumulation of those infected over the holiday school break. We intend to inform our readers so they may be aware rather than anxious over those who may have come in contact with someone who is symptomatic. Those who have in contact with a symptomatic individual/individuals must now sequester themselves  for 10 days, rather than the previous two-weeks regimen.

The Yonkers Tribune has learned that the Yonkers Public School District is monitoring all COVID-19 positive cases including those that were learned over the Christmas holiday break. The tabulation delineated below are in addition to what wer recognized in the past, yet we are incapable of retrieving that information. We hope to main a daily update as we learn of the daily tallies moving forward.

1)       School 8 was notified that a YCA staff member received a positive COVID-19 test result. The are self sequestering and no additional directive was required.

2)       A CSEA staff member from the Facilities Department reported that the employee received a positive COVID-19 positive test.  Any staff member who was in contact with that employee have be advised to monitor for symptoms and to quarantine according to Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH) guidance.

3)       A CSEA staff member from the VIVE School reported to the district that a staff member received a positive COVID-19 test result.  Any staff member who was in contact with that employee has been notified and advised to monitor for symptoms and quarantine according to CDC and DOH guidance.

4)       Two CSEA staff members from School 28 notified the district that the staff members received positive COVID-19 test results.  Any staff member who was in contact with those employees have been notified to monitor for symptoms and quarantine according to CDC and DOH guidance.

5)       A CSEA employee from the Food Service Department notified the district that the employee received a positive COVID-19 test result.  Any staff member who was in contact with that employee has been notified to monitor for symptoms and quarantine according to CDC and DOH guidance.

6)       A CSEA staff member from Cross Hill Academy notified the district that the staff member received a positive COVID-19 test result.  Any staff member who was in contact with that employee has been notified to monitor for symptoms and quarantine according to CDC and DOH guidance.

It is most pertinent to note that in the majority of the noted cases delineated above, symptoms developed on or after December 26, 2020, or 72 hours after schools were closed for the Christmas holiday break.

  1. YPS website link is on right side .It says COVID 19 Daily school update…it’s been there for months.Really? This opinion blog just learned of this now..great “reporting”.
