Today, I’m pleased to announce that the New York State Department of Health has revised its COVID-19 vaccine guidelines in accordance with the CDC and is now allowing New Yorkers over the age of 65 to begin registering to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Those interested in registering to make an appointment or check their availability can click HERE or contact 1-833 NYS 4 VAX (1-833-697-4829)
While this is welcome news, it’s important to note that at present time, the number of eligible New Yorkers has exceeded the number of vaccines available in New York State. At present time, New York State is only receiving 300,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines weekly, whereas approximately 7 million New Yorkers are now eligible for the vaccine.
I understand this is frustrating. However, I encourage New Yorkers to remain patient as we navigate this difficult hurdle. Our office has been in regular contact with the New York State Department of Health and the Governor’s office to help ensure wider distribution in the coming days and weeks, including the possibility of in-home vaccinations and mass-vaccination sites in our immediate area.
This group joins New Yorkers 75 and older, first responders, public safety officers, teachers and other school staff; in-person college instructors, childcare workers, public-facing grocery store workers, transit workers and individuals living and working in homeless shelters who became eligible to register for the vaccine on Monday, January 11th.
In the meantime, I urge you to continue to wear a mask, limit the number of people you come in contact with and socially distance as we must continue to be New York Strong in the fight against this pandemic.
As always, feel free to contact me with questions about the information shared below. You can reach out via phone at (914) 779-8805 or email. Other ways to stay informed include by following me on social media including FacebookTwitterand Instagram.
Best wishes, stay safe and please continue to be well,
.
