BEDFORD HILLS, NY — January 11, 2021 — We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season; apparently, I was naughty last year, as Santa jammed enough coal in my stocking to heat all of Katonah…

Once again, I have outsmarted myself by making my New Year’s resolution, “not to make any resolutions,” well Ha-ha, just by saying that I broke the resolution, so please sit back and enjoy this week’s “resolution free” edition of “News & Notes.”

The good folks at Art Show: Bedford proudly announce that in lieu of its traditional annual art exhibit, this year’s 48th show will be entirely virtual!

The Online Sales will run through January 31, with over 43 local artists spanning a variety of styles and media will be represented.   As always, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to local charities.

I love this new exercise concept “Get Fit While You Sit…”  Katonah Village Library announces a new zoom fitness program with a unique approach to individual functional fitness and holistic wellness. The program is designed and instructed by Katonah-resident Killeen Rhodes and will begin live online at 10am on January 7, with new sessions at the same time on Thursday mornings.  I may excel in this program as my wonderful wife points out nobody sits as well as I do…

The Town of Bedford depends on volunteers to deliver prepared meals for their “Meals on Wheels” program, if you are interested in volunteering for this important program please call Jim Whiting at 914-666-7004 for more information; together we can deliver.

It’s time to dig out your old blades, as Ice-skating will be available this winter at the Bedford Hills Memorial Park’s Lake Marie and Cherry Ridge Lake (on Lakeside Drive off Cherry Street) in Katonah. Appropriate signage will be posted at each site indicating whether or not the lakes are safe for skating. For skating conditions call the hotline number at 914-864-3777.

You will want to “check” this out…enter into the magical and exciting world of chess with Chess Wizards! You will participate in epic chess games, fun and interactive lessons, tournaments, team matches, trivia and more.  The specialized classes are a blast for everyone kindergarten through 5th grade.  Classes are offered through zoom on Thursdays in January, please call 914-666-7004 for more information.

A New Year’s toast with great cheer and a big thank you to all essential personnel who are on the job, health care workers, first responders, truck drivers, grocery store workers, anyone out there on the front line, thank you for your dedication, your service and being there for all of us!
