FLOWER MOUND, TX — May 3, 2021 —  A serious problem in our country is the lack of commitment to the Constitution and the rejection of the moral values that made us the envy of the world. We are the inheritors of a nation born out of a hard-fought revolution, which freed us from tyranny and provided us with the opportunity to construct a financial, industrial and military superpower out of a primitive wilderness. We may have a checkered history because of slavery and other human rights violations, but, we were a new nation that had a lot of learning and growing to do. We grew our way out of the slavery era by fighting a civil war that cost the lives of about a million Americans, both military and civilians.

It took another 55 years to pass the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. Today, blacks and women are among the leaders of industry, finance, sports and politics. Those many years amount to the growing pains of a country that had come to terms with its many shortcomings. We should keep in mind that it could only have happened because there were enough decent people to see how immoral it was to continue on a path of inequality. We must also keep in mind that there aren’t any people alive today that had anything to do with the past discriminatory practices. Therefore, to indict our country as racist is a blanket accusation that is as unfair in the present as inequality was in the past.

Yet, we are constantly beset by radical people and groups who want to pretend that racism is at epic proportions, alleging that nothing has changed since the days of Women’s Suffrage and Jim Crow. Moreover, we are being bombarded incessantly by radicals within the government who use their platforms to spread one hateful anti-American rant after another. Most prominent among them are the despicable quartet known as “The Squad”. Four congresswomen, Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, have been spreading a socialist/communist dogma rivaling anything ever spit from the rancorous lips of Marx and Engels.

In addition to spreading their anti-American rhetoric with impunity, these rabidly fanatical demagogues refer to anyone who disagrees with them as racists. That phony charge has become the Kryptonite which turns patriots into weak-kneed, quivering bowls of jelly. It’s way past time to put the kibosh on an accusation that no longer has validity in an era which has witnessed a 2-term black President and a plethora of major accomplishments by blacks in every field of endeavor. Leaders don’t shrivel up when faced with bogus calumny from smear merchants, seeking to dilute any opposition to their nefarious goals. Where are the Republican leaders with the necessary courage and conviction to take to the floor of the House and Senate in a vociferous condemnation of that traitorous squad?

If Donald Trump’s election in 2016 taught us anything, it was that the people of this nation want strong leaders who won’t pull punches when defending our borders, our Constitution and our culture. Conversely, what the election of the squad taught us is that there are pockets of die-hard socialists, in some left-wing areas of the country, who will vote for those candidates that share their dystopian views of the United States. What troubles me is that those few stentorian voices in the Congress have been louder and more strident in their hatred for the US, than the accumulated voices of hundreds of other reps who, presumably, love the country they represent. Have they been cowed by the fear of reprisals from extremist Democrats and their media accomplices?

It should be a no-brainer that the overwhelming number of our citizens love the country that provides them with the highest standard of living in the world. Still, they must be wondering why they hear so much trash from some elected officials who, ostensibly, took the oath of office to fight for, not against, the system that gave them a powerful megaphone. Furthermore, they must be wondering why the much greater number of elected officials seem to have developed a case of laryngitis. What are most Americans to think, when they hear so much hatred from the few, with little rebuttal from the many? Right now, the stage is set for a passionate leader in the GOP to take the lead by refusing to kowtow to the false racist narrative that has resulted in a form of reticence that is, subliminally, contributing to the downfall of our country.

  1. America is so bad, wah. I have so much more than others, wah.
Stfu, your bullshit Globalism (communism)idea doesn’t work, it’s proven. Just look at the EU, another disaster. China and Russia will eat your lunch while you’re out there singing Kumbaya trust that.

    1. Trump is done…Liz Cheney is going to force people to choose between being a real conservative or being the member of a cult…and perpetuating the ‘BIG LIE” that the election was fixed…How can leaders like McCarthy and others cave in to this sort of an attack on our democracy…Trump has acted like a third world tin pot dictator by casting doubt on an election that he lost….fair and square!Any republican who chooses to run in 2024 will have to deal with a third party challenge by Cheney which will make it impossible for a republican to win

  2. instead of Donald “the doctor said I have bone spurs Trump’ give me a break…Biden will make this country stronger and more resilient..Biden took the virus on and made sure the nation was vaccinated…Trump ignored the virus because Jared advised him to delegate it to the governors..many of whom had zero understanding of the nature of the threat…Trump tanked the employment numbers because he was far more interested in his re election than in making sure the nation took steps to stop unnecessary deaths….over half a million people are dead because Trump thought wearing a mask was a sign of weakness…..but he himself got the vaccine along with his wife in secret without letting the rest of the nation see it and follow him…what a disaster he was and he will never hold public office again. My friends in the SDNY tell me they have the goods on him and his kids..,.,.tax fraud bank fraud wire fraud….He has run a criminal enterprise all his adult life..He is a grifter and so are his children….He took400 million from his father and ran it into six bankrupticies…He took Money from the only bank that would lend it to him…Deutsche Bank and that money was sourced from Russian Crime lords….Oligarchs connected Putin…..That is why Trump refused to confront the Russians..because he owes them his life….as you will soon find out…Right today we are learning that even while Trump was in office the FBI received and vetted information from the same guy who published the original Steele dossier..and the second dossier pretty much bears out what was alleged in the first one..as you will also find out….Liz Cheney and other real conservatives have called out the Big Lie that Trump spread after he lost…The lie that alleged election fraud when there was no such thing…The secretaries of state of Both Arizona and Georgia have said that the elections in their states were fair..that there was no fraud..Bill Barr his own AG said NO Election Fraud at all…His own cyber boss said…the fairest elections ever conducted Yet Trump is peddling the lie and his sycophants in the Congress like Kevin McCarthy Paul Gosar Louie Gomert Marjorie Taylor Greene and others are parroting the lie….The real conservatives won’t have any of it because they understand that when a political party is based on untruths it is based on nothing and can’t win a national election….slowly but surely the real conservatives are lining up to call Donald Out…they will not stand silent

  3. The National GOP doesn’ t go after the squad because this groups support is marginal and they represent constituents in low- income districts. Not the face or base of Republican Party which President Trump is still fortunately the leader.(Traditional values never sell-out.)

  4. Two sentences into the piece and Weir’s got it wrong already. We are not “a nation born out of a hard-fought revolution,” but rather one born out of religious extremism and fundamentalism with roots in an English village called Scrooby (birthplace of William Brewster). Early Europeans then cleared the land via their genocidal extermination of indigenous civilizations.

He then writes, “which freed us from tyranny and provided us with the opportunity to construct a financial, industrial and military superpower out of a primitive wilderness.”

Wrong again. That “superpower” was constructed using slave labor camps, or what polite society likes to call “plantations.” It was stolen labor that fueled the South’s economy as well as the development of a network of financial and economic institutions in the North.

Skipping over his dog-whistle nonsense about political parties, he concludes, “It should be a no-brainer that the overwhelming number of our citizens love the country that provides them with the highest standard of living in the world.”

Widespread poverty has become so extreme in the United States that the UN actually produced a report on the subject. In their September 2017 report on Poverty in United States, they concluded that more than 1 in 8 eight Americans were living in poverty (40 million – equal to 12.7% of the population). And almost half of those (18.5 million) were living in deep poverty, with reported family income below one-half of the poverty threshold.

So much for high standards of living.

    1. I always find it interesting that all these leftists do is complain about the country that feeds, clothes and houses their worthless butts. Yet, not one of them will pull up stakes and move to one of the socialist countries they admire. Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, will gladly accept you and your naïve notions of having the government take care of you. As for the hundreds of millions of proud Americans, we’ll be glad to see you leave.

      1. A perfect illustration of the highly indoctrinated, absolutist way of thinking that leaves zero room for criticism – you’ll often find this sort of “you’re either with us or against us” worldview in some of the most totalitarian societies in history such as the ones mentioned (the obvious irony being lost on the person who typed the comment).

As for the “good riddance” sentiment regarding 40 million categorically poor fellow citizens, well, that sort of comment needs no further comment.

        1. What needs no further comment is your obvious hatred for the country that coddles your worthless hide. The writer who said good riddance is merely stating an obvious maxim. If you hate the country in which you live, why in the world would you stay there?

    2. Another liberal who thinks virtue-signaling is a sign of heartfelt compassion. If this halfwit really thinks that people in this country are starving, he’s too misinformed to be taken seriously. If he wants to see examples of poverty there are scores of countries around the world with severe examples of food shortages, polluted water and the lack of hospital facilities. If this country is so filled with poverty, systemic racism and lack of employment opportunities; why are so many people literally dying to get here? That’s a question that no left wing radical can answer, hence, they just scream racism at anyone who asks the question. What a pathetic bunch of losers.

      1. “Virtue signaling” – a simple-minded neologism that shifts the focus from the actual facts of American history to a personal attack on the person presenting those facts. The intention is to silence that history in favor of promoting the sorts of national myths like the kind that Weir mentions in his piece.

“If this country is so filled with poverty, systemic racism and lack of employment opportunities; why are so many people literally dying to get here? ”

A good example of a non-sequitur. One can have an unacknowledged national history founded on the genocidal extermination of indigenous civilizations and, later, slave labor, while also having people in the present day wanting to immigrate to that country.

Intellectually weak people will often attempt to shift the focus to personal attacks or non-related issues in order to compensate for their inability or unwillingness to engage with a particular issue, which is often rooted in certain blind faith in something.

The fact is that the United States is “so filled with poverty.” America as the land of opportunity that everyone is just clamoring to get to – that’s the conformist myth which keeps people from acknowledging things such as extreme poverty, even when that poverty is all around them. That’s also orthodox ideology – the sort of thing that you’ll find in deeply indoctrinated societies or even groups (typically the military or police, which require an “us versus them” mentality meant to promote group think and conformity over individualism).

  5. suggest that Weir tell Republicans to clean their own house first…Right wing ethno nationalists have taken over the Republican party…Marjorie Taylor Greene and Boevert and Paul Gosar from Arizona along with folks like Jim Jordan, Louie Gomert..all have spead the Qanon conspiracy in order to attract others who share in those nonsense theories to their cause..The Republican party is no longer the party of free trade and fiscal responsibility It is the party of chaos..All you have to do is read John Boehners book “on the house” or read Hoax by Brian Stelter…Its all there clear as could be ..the crazies have taken over and replaced real conservatives with radical reactionaries….maybe Bob should speak to why that is…Why are they pushing Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney out? why are they embracing proud boys…boogalou boys, three percenters, and neo nazis William f Buckley back in the 1960’s got rid of the radical right wing elements in the party..the john birchers and ku kluxers….but today Republicans are afraid to clean house because of Donald Trump…and that is a big problem because Trump will be indicted within the next three months…

      1. I’m embarrassed that the two most passionate defenders of our conservative Republican party are women, Greene and Bobbet. Where are the warriors?

        Fate whispered to the warrior,
        “You cannot stand the storm!”
        Whispered the warrior to fate;
        “I am the storm.”

    1. I think Weir illustrated the problem succinctly when he wrote: “In addition to spreading their anti-American rhetoric with impunity, these rabidly fanatical demagogues refer to anyone who disagrees with them as racists. That phony charge has become the Kryptonite which turns patriots into weak-kneed, quivering bowls of jelly. It’s way past time to put the kibosh on an accusation that no longer has validity in an era which has witnessed a 2-term black President and a plethora of major accomplishments by blacks in every field of endeavor.” In other words, all the left has to talk about is racism, 24/7. The only way they can win an election is to divide the country along racial, gender, etc. lines.
