YORKTOWN, NY — January 18, 2022 — In response to long lines for testing at local pharmacies and urgent care centers, a mobile testing site opened today in Granite Knolls Park.
Yorktown officials responded to the surging demand for Covid-19 tests by partnering with Ridgewood Labs to offer drive-thru services in the park’s parking lot. This location is Ridgewood Lab’s fourth site established in the tri-state area.
“This pandemic has required local government to innovate and build new partnerships in order to provide critical services to its residents,” said Supervisor Matt Slater. “We encourage those in need, both in Yorktown and our neighboring communities, to take advantage of this free service.”
The drive-thru testing will be offered Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“I’m glad that we can help our residents get the tests they need,” said Councilman Tom Diana.
Appointments and masks are required for the tests. The public can sign up for the tests at: https://testny.online/reg.aspx
“We have been working on establishing this program for nearly two months and I am glad it has finally come to fruition,” said Councilman Sergio Esposito. “This will help our community take another step closer to normalcy.”
The testing is expected to continue in the park until March.
“Recently we’ve seen long lines in the cold for Covid testing. This mobile drive-thru site is a convenient option that allows people to be tested from the comfort of their vehicles,” said Councilwoman Luciana Haughwout.
Granite Knolls Park is at 2975 Stony Street in Yorktown.
“Just as we offered our community center for vaccinations, we are offering a public park for mobile testing to help our community stay safe,” said Councilman Ed Lachterman.
